ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — A weekend of reflection, celebration, and community connection is planned as Juneteenth events return to Elizabethtown this June.

The 2026 Juneteenth Celebration will take place from Thursday, June 18, through Sunday, June 21, bringing together residents, local organizations, and visitors for a series of activities honoring the history and cultural significance of the holiday.

Organizers say this year’s event will feature a range of programming, including live entertainment, guest speakers, food vendors, cultural presentations, and opportunities for community engagement.

A highlight of the celebration will be the Juneteenth parade, scheduled for Saturday, June 20. Participants will line up at 9 a.m. at 807 W. Broad Street before the parade gets underway.

Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and is recognized as a powerful symbol of resilience, progress, and hope. Local organizers emphasize that the Elizabethtown celebration is designed not only to honor history but also to foster unity and build connections across the community.

The multi-day event is open to the public, with organizers encouraging families, businesses, and community leaders to attend and participate in the celebration.
