Fairmont man dies days after gunshot wound
FAIRMONT, NC (AP) — Charges against a Rowland man have been upgraded to murder after a 21-year-old man’s death from a gunshot wound.
The Fayetteville Observer reports that 20-year-old Jahdarrius McNair was charged Monday with first-degree murder. McNair had originally been charged with attempted murder after a Friday shooting.
Authorities say McNair shot Jeffrey Collins of Fairmont at around 6:45 p.m. Friday outside an apartment complex. Police Chief Danny Parker says McNair fired several shots into a crowd and hit Collins, who died Sunday.
McNair was being held without bond, and it wasn’t known if he had an attorney.
