Fall adopt-a-thon to bring local animal rescues together in Leland

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Animal rescue organizations from across the Cape Fear are coming together in Leland next month for an adoption and fundraising event.

Petsense Leland will host its Fall 2026 Adopt-a-thon on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1215 West Gate Drive.

The event will give people an opportunity to meet dogs, cats and other animals available for adoption through participating rescue organizations.

Organizers say participating groups include Feline Matchmakers, Wagon Tails Farm Rescue, Cape Fear Critters Rescue, Empowering Paws Rescue, Coastal Carolina St. Bernard Rescue, Hamilton’s Healing Hearts Rescue, It’s a Jungle Pet Rescue, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Animal Protective Services, Addie Catz Sanctuary and Pender County Humane Society.

In addition to pet adoptions, the event will feature more than 40 vendors, crafters and small businesses, along with food and drink trucks.

Leland Fire and Rescue is also expected to participate.

Raffles, giveaways, games and other family activities are planned throughout the event.

The event will also serve as a fundraiser supporting local animal rescue organizations.
