Filmmaker to visit local playspace on nationwide tour Wednesday

WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) — Documentary filmmaker Alex Eaves, who launched a successful Kickstarter campaign in May 2013, has chosen Tmuffin, a local children’s playspace, to feature in his documentary “Reuse: Because You Can’t Recycle the Planet.” Eaves, who is currently on a nationwide tour, filming organizations in every state that reuse in a unique way, is stopping by Tmuffin tomorrow, Wednesday July 17, from 10am to 3pm to shoot some film for his documentary and to spread the word and share ideas about repurposing and reusing as a way to protect the Earth.

Eaves owns the apparel company Stay Vocal, which is all about reusing. In fact, they rescue clothing that would otherwise have been tossed out, add designs, make it unique, and sell it. He chose Tmuffin to showcase in his film because we have a similar mission. We’re a community playspace that opened in Wilmington in May 2013 that offers parents more than bouncy houses and plastic toys (in fact, we don’t have any of that). We have some installed play structures for kids to play with, but we change our theme weekly, breaking out cardboard boxes and turning our playspace into a train station or using blueberries that are on their way out to make paintings.

On July 17, Tmuffin is hosting a performance by the Broccoli Bros. Circus, a theatrical/puppet performance that features costumes made from bubble wrap and paper bags and helps children learn about healthy living and protecting nature. Eaves will be at Tmuffin filming, and he will also be running a popup sale of his Stay Vocal apparel.
