Finally! Downtown Wilmington streets set to reopen

WILMINGTON, NC (STARNEWS) — Two downtown Wilmington streets closed to accommodate repairs to aging buildings will soon reopen to traffic.

Barriers closing a portion of Second Street at Chestnut were removed this week after nearly 10 months, according to EB Pannkuk with Andrews Consulting Engineers, who is overseeing both projects.

The work zone allowed crews to do much-needed repairs to the interior and exterior of Cape Fear Hotel Apartments, the building for which has sat at the corner of the road since 1924.
