Home destroyed in fire overnight, 2 taken to hospital

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC  (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an early morning fire sent two people to the hospital.

They say New Hanover County Fire Rescue dispatched around 2 a.m. to 6600 Stoddard Road off of Glenarthur Drive.

New Hanover County Deputy Fire Marshall Ray Griswold said the home is a total loss. He said the attic and the garage are gone. He said a lot of the fire was in the attic.

Griswold says there were five people in the home at the time of the fire.

Griswold said two people were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
