Fire destroys van at The Salvation Army
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A woman who stopped by The Salvation Army in downtown Wilmington came out of the store to find her van on fire.
It happened around 10:30 a.m.
Dark smoke filled the sky as the fire tore through the 2001 van.
The driver, Hannah Stone, says she smelled burning plastic, so she parked in front of The Salvation Army, cut the engine off and then went inside to look at a couple of items.
Wilmington fire fighters responded and put out the fire quickly.
No one got hurt.
No word yet on what caused the fire.
