FIRST ON 3: SCC baseball team raising money to go to Junior College World Series

WHITEVILLE, NC (NEWS RELEASE) — Members of the Southeastern Community College Rams baseball team are making a personal appeal for support to help them travel to Enid, Oklahoma for the National Junior College Division II World Series.

The team advances to the World Series scheduled for May 28 after it defeated Surry Community College on May 16 to win the National Junior College Athletic Association (NCJAA) Region 10 Division II Tournament.

North Carolina law prevents state funds from being used to support community college athletics. Southeastern’s intercollegiate baseball and softball teams are supported by the Rams Club, SCC Foundation and student activity fees.

Tax-deductible donations may be mailed to the SCC Foundation at P.O. Box 151, Whiteville, NC 28472. Please indicate “World Series” in the subject line. Contributions to the Foundation are also accepted online via PayPal at www.sccnc.edu/foundation.html. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Donate.” For more information about making a donation, call the Foundation office at (910) 642-7141, extension 260 or 320..
