First ever Veterans Day Parade held in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Although Veterans Day was observed on Friday, plenty of people converged on downtown Wilmington Saturday morning to celebrate those who have served our country.

The parade was organized by the New Hanover County Veterans Council and was the first of its kind in southeastern North Carolina.

The air was filled with “thank you’s” and the stars and stripes as the parade made its way down Front Street.

As a special honor, all of the World War II veterans in attendance were named grand marshals of the parade.
