WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — First Fruit Ministries is preparing to welcome more than 100 people experiencing homelessness for its annual Outreach Banquet next month.

The event will take place Saturday, November 14, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the First Fruit Ministries Sanctuary in Wilmington.

The annual banquet offers guests an afternoon of celebration, connection and generosity, featuring a sit-down dinner, live entertainment performed by members of the homeless community and a special store offering gifts and essential items.

Organizers say the event is designed to create an atmosphere of warmth, dignity and belonging for people who often face hardship and isolation.

“The banquet always reminds me that I am loved, and people actually care. First Fruit always treats us with dignity like we are family and we matter. I am grateful for all they do for us,” one past attendee said.

The banquet is part of First Fruit Ministries’ ongoing mission to serve people experiencing homelessness and crisis through food assistance, shelter, outreach and recovery programs.

The event is made possible through partnerships with local businesses, churches, civic organizations and volunteers who provide food, entertainment, gifts and other resources.

This year’s participating organizations include the Cape Fear Swing Dance Society, The Green Bean mobile coffee cart, The Boys and Girls Club, Assistance League, Knights of Columbus, Lake Waccamaw Methodist Church, Wilmington East Rotary Club, Wilmington Academy of Arts and Sciences, Lifepoint Church and Make Plain Jesus Global Ministries.

Through the event, First Fruit Ministries hopes to remind guests that their circumstances do not define their worth and that they have a community supporting them.

The banquet will be held at First Fruit Ministries, located at 2750 Vance St. in Wilmington.
