FIRST ON 3: SC murder suspect arrested at Wilmington hotel

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — SWAT teams with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office arrested a South Carolina murder suspect at a Wilmington hotel Wednesday night, according to a sheriff’s spokesman.

New Hanover County Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer said they got a request from South Carolina law enforcement agencies to investigate and track down a fugitive wanted on murder charges and other violent felonies.

Lt. Brewer said SWAT teams found the suspect, Jamal Marquis Daniels, 22, of Myrtle Beach, SC, at a hotel in the 4100 block of Market Street. That’s where they entered Daniels’ room and arrested him without incident, according to Brewer.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office helped in the investigation.

Lt. Brewer said Daniels is in jail on a fugitive warrant, awaiting extradition back to South Carolina.
