Foggy conditions blamed for minor school bus accident

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Foggy conditions contributed to an accident which caused a Brunswick County Public School bus to slide into a ditch early Monday morning.

The accident happened near the intersection of Northwest Road and Mt. Misery Road in Brunswick County.

Brunswick County Schools spokesman Daniel Seamans said only the driver and a school bus monitor were on the bus at the time. Neither were injured.

Bus 347 was just starting its route to pick up students enrolled at North Brunswick High and Leland Middle Schools.

“Heavy fog and glare from oncoming traffic caused the accident,” Seamans said.

Across the district, some other school buses ran behind schedule, but school leaders say this is typical for the first week of school as drivers adjust to their routes.

Brunswick County Public Schools has 153 buses that pick up students across the district.
