Food Day Wilmington focuses on locally-produced eats
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Locals celebrated Food Day Wilmington with Feast Down East at UNCW. They learned where to buy local foods, how locally grown foods are healthier, and why it’s important to buy locally.
UNCW Campus Dining also provided a locally-sourced lunch for food day supporters.
“For Feast Down East, it’s really about economic development,” Executive Director Leslie Hossfeld said. “When you keep food dollars locally, this has an incredible ripple effect in our local economy.”
Feast Down East encourages people to take the Food Day Challenge, by eating one meal consisting solely of local foods.
