Food Lion employees robbed overnight

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an armed robbery at a grocery store in Wilmington.

It happened at the Food Lion on Carolina Beach Road just after 11 p.m.

Deputies say two employees were walking to their vehicles after locking up for the night, and a black male approached them from behind.

The man used a gun to force the employees back into the store, and then told them to open the safe as a second black male appeared with a book bag.

The two suspects then led the employees into a room, ordering them not to come out, and fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

If you have any information, call the sheriff’s office.
