Former Bald Head Island officer files suit over firing
BRUNSWICK, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — A former Bald Head Island public safety officer has filed suit in federal court against the village and Manager Calvin Peck Jr., charging they violated his civil rights and denied him due process when he was fired in August.
Herbert Bryant was fired for violating village policy against sexual harassment, discourteous treatment of other employees and inappropriate electronic communications, according to Bryant’s termination letter.
Bryant was one of five public safety officers that Bald Head Island fired Aug. 28. Four of them were fired for the same reasons Bryant was, according to the termination letters.
