Former preschool assistant pleads guilty to child sex crimes
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A former Leland Christian Academy employee is going to prison for nearly 15 years after pleading guilty to child sex crimes and child pornography.
Andrew Timothy Hodge pleaded guilty to one count of first degree kidnapping, one count of indecent liberties with a child, ten counts of second degree exploitation of a minor, and ten counts of third degree exploitation of a minor in Brunswick County Superior Court Monday.
He was sentenced to nearly 15 years in prison followed by an additional five years of supervised probation.
According to a new release, the investigation began in February when Special Agents with Homeland Security and the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department received reports suggesting that Hodge said that he was addicted to child pornography and had previously been employed at the Leland Christian Academy off and on for several years until 2017.
Investigators found 60 images of child pornography on Hodge’s electronic devices.
In addition, Hodge told investigators that there was an incident involving a minor child which ultimately led to the kidnapping and indecent liberties charges.
