FIRST ON 3 UPDATE: Former senator R.C. Soles to appear in court to answer to assault charges
TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) – Former controversial senator R.C. Soles will have to appear in court this fall.
According to Tabor City Police Captain Greg Sibbett, Soles is being served with a magistrate summons over accusations of assault and battery.
Soles’s law client, Michael Scott, obtained the summons over the weekend.
Last week, Scott told Tabor City Police Soles grabbed him by the throat, pushed him against the wall and then smacked him in the mouth and busted his lip. Scott also told police that Soles beat him across the back with a cane.
Scott originally went to a magistrate to get a warrant, but says he was told to file a police report. Tabor City police took the report and spoke with both Soles and the Assistant District Attorney. That information was then turned over to the magistrate.
The magistrate issued the summons over the weekend.
A summons does not involve an arrest.
Sibbett says Soles is scheduled to appear in court on October 14.
WWAY left a message last week to speak with Soles about these allegations, he did not return our call.
