Former U.S. Rep. Charlie Rose dies
FAYETTEVILLE, NC (FAYETTEVILLE OBSERVER.COM) — Former U.S. Rep. Charlie Rose of Fayetteville died Monday afternoon, his wife Stacye Hefner said this morning. He was 73.
He died after battling Parkinson’s disease for the past year, Ms. Hefner said.
Mr. Rose, a Democrat, served in Congress for 12 terms, from January 1973 to December 1996. In that time, he became one of the more powerful lawmakers in Congress.
