WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — A free community event aimed at helping people give their broken household items a second life is returning to Wilmington.

The Wilmington Repair Café will be held Saturday, Sept. 26, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, located at 1000 Greenfield St.

Community members can bring items in need of repair, including lamps, clocks, small kitchen appliances, books, picture frames and toys.

Volunteer repair coaches will be available to help attendees troubleshoot problems, make repairs and learn more about fixing items themselves.

The event is free and registration is not required, although organizers recommend registering an item and describing the problem in advance.

Organizers are also looking for volunteers interested in serving as repair coaches.

More information about the event, registration and volunteering is available through the Wilmington Repair Café.
