Funeral arrangements announced for fallen Columbus County deputy Damien Bost

Nakina, NC (WWAY) — Funeral arrangements have been announced for Columbus County Sheriff’s Deputy Damien Draper Bost, who was killed in the line of duty Thursday while working a traffic detail on U.S. 74-76.
According to his obituary, Bost, 30, of Nakina, served as a deputy with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office. During the school year, he worked as a school resource officer, and during the summer, he served on patrol.
The obituary describes Bost as a dedicated public servant, husband and father of two daughters. It says he was known for building relationships with students by playing games and interacting with children during the school day.
Bost is survived by his wife, Jayden, daughters Scottlyn and Fallon, his mother, Crystal Donahue, six siblings and several extended family members.
The family will receive friends Monday, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the South Columbus High School auditorium.
A funeral service with full law enforcement honors will follow at 1 p.m. at the same location. Burial will take place at Watts Cemetery in Nakina.
Bost was killed Thursday morning when authorities say an 18-wheeler struck his parked patrol vehicle while he was providing protection for a road construction crew along U.S. 74-76. The crash remains under investigation by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
