Ghost Crabs continue hot streak with win over Shallywags

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Ghost Crabs continued their strong summer stretch with a victory over the Shallotte Shallywags at Brooks Field, improving to 10 wins in their last 12 games.

The Ghost Crabs built an early lead before putting the game out of reach with a seven-run eighth inning.

Wilmington native Jack Cuba played a key role in that eighth inning, driving in two runs with a single to right field.

The game ended on a passed ball, sealing the victory for the Ghost Crabs.

After the game, Cuba credited both the pitching staff and the team’s confidence at the plate.

“Our pitching staff only walked one guy, and we only gave up one run. On the other side, trusting that our offense is gonna break through at some point, it’s just a matter of when,” Cuba said.

The Ghost Crabs are off for the Old North State League All-Star break this weekend. Their next home game is scheduled for July 3.
