Harnett firm sues for $6 million for military work
FAYETTEVILLE, NC (AP) — A Harnett County business says it is
owed $6 million for construction at Fort Bragg and has sued a
contractor over the debt.
The Fayetteville Observer reported that Temple Grading and
Construction Co. Inc. of Bunnlevel is suing McCarty Corp., a Texas
business with an office in Fayetteville.
The lawsuit filed Tuesday says McCarty was the main contractor
building the 4th Brigade Combat Team Complex on Fort Bragg. Temple
was a subcontractor beginning in 2007.
The suit says work-order changes by the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers expanded the scope of the contract by $6 million, but the
additional fees were never paid.
The lawsuit is the latest in a string of legal disputes over
payments to subcontractors at Fort Bragg.
