Hit and run victim’s father pleads for help

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A young man is in critical condition and Wilmington Police are still searching for the driver who hit him and drove off.

21-year-old Daniel Khan was crossing the 400 block of South College Road around 1a.m. Saturday when he was struck by what police think was a light golden colored sedan.

He is currently suffering from brain damage and is unresponsive. His family and fraternity brothers from UNC Pembroke are staying with him while he’s at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

“For things that you do in this world, there’s repercussions. Do the right thing,” Daniel’s father Summy Khan said. “This person that did this, I’m not angry. I’m not upset. It’s not about revenge. It’s not about that, it’s just about doing the right thing. He’s hurt an innocent person, him or her, whoever did this, and they need to own up to what they did.”

The Wilmington Police Department is requesting assistance from anyone with information on the suspect vehicle or its driver. Call the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3600 or TEXT-A-TIP to CRIMES (274637) and begin the text with TIP708 to provide information.
