Hoggard football rolls past Jack Britt, improves to 2-0

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Hoggard continued its strong start to the season Friday night with a 31-6 win over Jack Britt.

The Vikings entered Week 2 ranked No. 17 in the state after opening the season with a 27-13 win over Richmond Senior.

Hoggard got on the board early against Jack Britt. Quarterback Matthew Boring handed the ball off to running back Judah Gilliespie, who pushed his way into the end zone to give the Vikings a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

Hoggard’s defense kept Jack Britt from answering, including a big tackle by Logan Petty. The Vikings added another touchdown when Jason Arciola ran the ball into the end zone, extending the lead to 14-0.

Gilliespie later scored his second touchdown of the game to make it 21-0.

Before halftime, Boring connected with Malley Hansley on a long pass to move Hoggard down the field. Hansley later finished the drive with a touchdown, giving the Vikings a 28-0 halftime lead.

Hoggard went on to win 31-6, improving to 2-0 on the season.
