BOLTON, NC (WWAY) — A 39-year-old Holly Ridge woman is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say they found methamphetamine and other drug-related items during a traffic stop in Columbus County.

Amanda Marie Hawksworth was arrested and charged with multiple drug-related offenses. She was then transported to the detention facility.

She faces four counts of felony trafficking opium or heroin, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine, felony possession of a controlled substance on jail premises, felony obstruction of justice and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, the sheriff’s Vice/Narcotics Unit assisted the North Carolina State Highway Patrol during a traffic stop Oct. 13 along Andrew Jackson Highway and Sam Potts Highway in Bolton.

During the investigation, troopers reportedly found varying amounts of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia. Narcotics agents responded and took possession of the substances.

The sheriff’s office said additional quantities of a substance consistent with opium or heroin trafficking were later discovered concealed on Amanda Marie Hawksworth when she entered the body scanner at the Columbus County Law Enforcement Center.

According to the sheriff’s office, Hawksworth was not granted bond because she was already out on bond.
