Hospitalizations down as COVID-19 percent positive rate increases

RALEIGH (WWAY) — The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has released its latest COVID-19 tracking numbers, and there is good news on the number of people hospitalized with the virus.

Six fewer people are being hospitalized throughout North Carolina, bringing the total to 964. This is the third-straight day hospitalizations have been below 1,000.

Throughout the state, 15 more people have died from the virus,  bringing the total number of deaths statewide from the beginning of the pandemic to 11,820.

2,034 new COVID-19 cases have been reported, and the state percent positive increased to 4.9%.
