Human remains found at historical site

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A macabre find at a New Hanover County historic site.

During recent construction at a historical county building in the 300 block of Chestnut Street, crews uncovered some intact human skeletal remains.

The North Carolina Office of State Archaeology says the site is possibly a small cemetery or family burial site.

New Hanover County is proceeding with great care and respect of the site.
