Hundreds celebrate at Leland Founders’ Day Festival

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Hundreds came out to the Leland Municipal Complex on Saturday to celebrate the town’s 28th anniversary.

The annual festival, which is held each year on the second Saturday of September, features vendors, live music, food trucks, rides, and more.

This year’s festival kicked off at 3 p.m. with a special veteran salute, followed by a performance by the North Brunswick High School marching band. Live music acts included Johnny White and the Elite Band, Justin Cody Fox, and Across the Bridge.

The event was attended by residents that were born and raised in Leland, and by some that moved to the area as recently as two weeks ago.

Leland Mayor Brenda Bozeman said, “There’s an important need to get people that are moving here in with the people that have lived here forever; to blend them all together, and you can see that’s what we’ve got here.”

A fireworks display wrapped up the night around 9 p.m.
