RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — The Carolina Hurricanes Foundation has donated $50,000 to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina’s Stop Summer Hunger initiative, helping provide more than 150,000 meals to children and families during the summer months.
The gift was presented during the Stanley Cup Finals, continuing the organization’s tradition of pairing postseason success with community impact. The funding supports efforts to address food insecurity at a critical time of year when children lose reliable access to school breakfast and lunch programs.
Throughout the 2026 NHL playoffs, the Hurricanes Foundation made grants during each round of the postseason, ultimately investing $200,000 into local community organizations focused on hunger relief and other essential needs.
“Summer should be a time for children to learn, play, and grow–not worry about where their next meal will come from. We are proud to support the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina to provide more than 150,000 meals to local children and families, helping ensure kids have the nourishment they need to stay healthy and thrive while school is out and beyond,” said Amy Daniels, Carolina Hurricanes Foundation Executive Director.
The Hurricanes Foundation’s postseason giving campaign has become a hallmark of its community outreach, extending the impact of each playoff run far beyond the ice.
