ICYMI: WWAY, WHQR host final Wilmington City Council debate
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Early voting is already underway for Nov. 5’s municipal elections. Tonight voters had one last chance to get to know the men running for Wilmington City Council.
WWAY NewsChannel 3 and WHQR 91.3 FM hosted a forum featuring City Council hopefuls.
There are six candidates running for three open seats. Council members Kevin O’Grady, Charlie Rivenbark and Earl Sheridan are running for reelection. They are challenged by Derek Bickel, Felix Cooper and Skip Watkins. Rivenbark was unable to attend the forum due to a medical emergency earlier in the day.
The candidates discussed a host of issues, including tackling Wilmington’s gang problem, infrastructure needs, economic development, growth, budget issues and even what they learned from last year’s ballpark debate.
