ILM receives more than $900,000 in federal funds
There was a big grant for Wilmington International Airport Wednesday. ILM has received more than $900,000 in federal funds for airport improvements.
The money was awarded by the US Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration. ILM will use the money to improve the airport ramp; the area planes use to load and unload passengers.
Airport Deputy Director, Julie Wilsey said the grant will benefit more than the airport. “Of course that is very good for the local economy because that does help the local contractors and people in the area to do work for the airport.”
Wilsey said the contract has not been awarded as of yet. Once construction begins, she expects it to take about four months before the work is completed.
