NCHP: Impaired driver airlifted to hospital after crash
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center Saturday morning after investigators say his car ran off the road, went airborne and hit a tree in Brunswick County.
North Carolina Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 6:50 a.m. on Maco Road about a mile and a half south of Northwest.
Dennis Lynch, 49, was driving south when he ran off the road and struck a driveway embankment. The vehicle went airborne and collided with a tree.
He was airlifted to NHRMC with non-life threatening head injuries.
Highway Patrol says they determined speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
Lynch was charged with speeding, driving without a seatbelt, driving while impaired, and driving with a revoked license from a previous DWI.
