Increased law enforcement at Bladen County schools after threat tip investigated

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office said it found no credible threat against county schools after investigating an anonymous tip received Monday, according to a statement posted by the office.

The tip referenced an incident from five days earlier involving a parent making threats against Bladen County Schools and its buses, the sheriff’s office said. Investigators conducted multiple interviews to determine the origin and validity of the tip.

The sheriff’s office said it determined there is no current threat against Bladen County Schools, students or staff. Law enforcement presence will be increased at schools over the next few days as a precaution, according to the statement.

The sheriff’s office said it will continue working with Bladen County Schools to ensure the safety of students and staff.
