Island Women donates $5,000 to CFCC endowed scholarship

Carolina Beach, NC (WWAY) — Island Women has donated $5,000 to support an endowed scholarship at Cape Fear Community College, the organization announced.
The group has also taken over stewardship of the Island Women Endowed Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to CFCC students who demonstrate financial need. Students in any program of study are eligible, with preference given to female students.
Pleasure Island Revitalization previously supported the scholarship. Island Women said it plans to continue contributing to the endowment to provide ongoing financial assistance to students.
“Island Women is a diverse group of women committed to bettering the community through education and literacy,” Island Women President Julie House said. “We are honored to partner with the Cape Fear Community College Foundation to continue a legacy that will make a difference for years to come.”
CFCC Foundation Philanthropy Officer Logan Wright said the contribution will help students who face financial barriers to their education.
Island Women was founded in 2008 and has donated more than $270,000 to local organizations, according to the group. It has more than 300 members and supports educational initiatives and community programs.
