Jacksonville VA to break ground on new outpatient clinic serving more than 42,000 veterans

Jacksonville, NC (WWAY) — The Fayetteville VA Coastal Health Care System will break ground Monday on a new multi-specialty outpatient clinic in Jacksonville that is expected to expand health care services for veterans across southeastern North Carolina.

The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, July 20th, at the future clinic site at 4424 Western Blvd.

According to the VA, the three-story facility will span approximately 230,000 square feet and serve veterans in a six-county region that includes Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, Onslow and Pender counties.

VA officials said the clinic is expected to serve more than 42,000 veterans initially. The veteran population in the service area is projected to grow to 76,736 by 2029, the year the facility is expected to open.

The outpatient clinic will provide a range of services, including primary care, women’s health, oncology, dermatology, cardiology, pulmonary care, audiology, speech pathology, dentistry, eye care, mental health, pain management, physical medicine and rehabilitation, prosthetics, radiology, laboratory services and pharmacy services.

The new facility will be located near the four existing Jacksonville Community-Based Outpatient Clinics and is intended to help meet the growing health care needs of veterans in the region, including those connected to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River.

Scheduled speakers at the ceremony include Fayetteville VA Medical Center Executive Director Marri Fryar, Lease Execution Director Lindsay Killian, VISN leadership, Lindy Robinson, senior adviser and district director for U.S. Rep. Greg Murphy, and Rick Baier of U.S. Federal Properties.
