Jefferson Starship, John Waite and Pink Floyd tribute show coming to Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Several names from rock music are headed to Wilmington as the Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College announces two shows for 2027.

Jefferson Starship will perform with British singer-songwriter John Waite on Saturday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 p.m.

Jefferson Starship was formed in 1974 by a group that included former members of Jefferson Airplane. Its current lineup includes founding member David Freiberg, along with Donny Baldwin, Chris Smith, Jude Gold and Cathy Richardson.

Waite is known for his time as singer and bass player for The Babys and his later solo career, which included the 1984 album “No Brakes” and hit song “Missing You.”

A second show, “Roger Waters Presents LEGACY – A Pink Floyd Show,” is scheduled for Sunday, May 2, at 6:30 p.m.

The production was created under the direction of Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters and features a band led by his son, Harry Waters, a pianist, composer and longtime touring musician.

According to the Wilson Center, the show will run for more than two hours and feature music from Pink Floyd’s catalog.

“We are going to authentically recreate the albums as close to note-for-note as we possibly can,” Harry Waters said.

Tickets for the Pink Floyd show will become available online to Wilson Center members Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. Member sales for Jefferson Starship and John Waite begin Thursday, Oct. 1, at 10 a.m.

Tickets for both shows go on sale to the general public online and in person Friday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m.
