Jones Lake State Park to unveil mural honoring its history
ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WWAY) — Jones Lake State Park will unveil a new mural Thursday celebrating an important part of the park’s history.
The mural, painted by artist Bess Taylor, honors Jones Lake State Park as the first unit of the North Carolina state parks system to welcome Black visitors.
The public is invited to attend the unveiling ceremony from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, August 27, at the Jones Lake State Park Visitor Center.
The event will be held at 4117 N.C. Highway 242 N. in Elizabethtown.
The mural is intended to recognize the park’s history and highlight its significance in North Carolina’s state park system.
