Justice Department to announce major fraud enforcement & partnerships across Southeast
COLUMBIA, SC (WWAY) — The U.S. Department of Justice is expected to announce what it calls record fraud enforcement actions across the Southeast, along with new partnerships between federal and state agencies, during a news conference Thursday.
The press conference is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. ET on Thursday, July 30, at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina.
According to the Justice Department, Assistant Attorney General Colin M. McDonald of the National Fraud Enforcement Division will outline new enforcement initiatives aimed at combating fraud throughout the region.
Joining McDonald will be South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, along with U.S. attorneys from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina. State attorneys general from Mississippi, Louisiana, North Carolina and South Carolina are also expected to participate.
The Justice Department said the announcement will focus on record fraud enforcement actions across the Southeast and new partnerships designed to strengthen cooperation between federal and state law enforcement agencies.
Additional details about the enforcement actions are expected to be released during the event.
