Kids get to enjoy a “snow day” at New Hanover County Library

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It was certainly cold enough for snow Saturday morning, but there wasn’t any falling from the sky, so the New Hanover County Library decided to make their own!

The library invited Wilmington’s young ones and their parents out for a snow-themed story time, but the main event was the artificial snow that the kids got to play in.

The average annual snowfall in Wilmington is about an inch and a half, so a chance to enjoy the white stuff is pretty rare.

The event’s organizers were happy to give the kids a winter wonderland to make memories in.

“At the library, we just love serving our community and serving our patrons and making sure we’re sharing stories. When they have memories like this, then they are writing their own stories, too,” said librarian Jamie Schrum.

Schrum says the library rotates this event every year through their main location in downtown Wilmington and the branches on Military Cutoff Road and South College Road.
