Landfall Foundation art show features more than 225 artists

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — One of southeastern North Carolina’s largest art shows is underway this week at the Country Club of Landfall.

The Landfall Foundation Art Show and Sale features more than 225 artists and 1,376 pieces of artwork, ranging from paintings and photographs to glass, wood and multimedia pieces.

“You can find pieces in glass, wood, paintings, photographs, we have multi-media,” said Denise Baer, Landfall Foundation president.

Baer said the event provides an opportunity to put local artists in front of hundreds of visitors.

“We are one of the largest art shows in all of southeastern North Carolina and we are very proud to be able to represent our local artists,” Baer said.

A portion of every sale is donated to the Landfall Foundation and supports its grant program for organizations across the Cape Fear region.

“It supports local organizations in the areas of health, welfare, education in the arts,” Baer said.

Among the hundreds of works on display, coastal birds proved to be a popular theme for some visitors.

“There’s been a lot of coastal birds, which I would say are my favorite,” visitor Lexie Keebler said.

Keebler said a pelican piece caught her attention, while another visitor purchased artwork featuring a blue heron.

“So we bought a blue heron so whenever we are on our boat we see these,” the visitor said.

Baer said the variety of artwork gives visitors plenty of options regardless of their tastes.

“It’s an amazing opportunity for local artists to have their pieces seen and purchased by hundreds of individuals that come through here over a three day period,” Baer said.

The Landfall Foundation Art Show and Sale is open to the public and runs through Thursday at the Country Club of Landfall.
