Laney runs through Topsail for conference win, 34-6

HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) — Laney defeated Topsail 34-6 in a Carolina Coast Conference matchup Friday night, spoiling the Pirates’ homecoming game.
The Buccaneers controlled much of the contest, using a combination of offensive production and a defensive touchdown to secure the win.
Laney quarterback Joseph Stough opened the scoring sequence with a fourth-down quarterback keeper up the middle, capping a lengthy drive with a touchdown.
Stough later connected with Senior Kilby Theiss-Dixon on a deep pass down the right sideline. Theiss-Dixon made an acrobatic catch to move the chains.
Topsail’s Freshman Running Back Kyle Albert generated momentum for the Pirate offense all night, but it didn’t lead to many points. Topsail made a quarterback change in the second quarter, substituting
Senior running back Jeremiah Brown helped lead the Buccaneers offensively, while Laney’s defense added to the advantage when cornerback Joe Deffinbaugh intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown.
Laney went on to secure the 34-6 conference victory.
The game was part of Topsail’s homecoming festivities. The school also recognized its marching band, which was selected to participate in the 2028 London New Year’s Day Parade.
