WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — One of Wilmington’s most anticipated end-of-summer traditions is returning later this summer, bringing together community members for an evening of entertainment, philanthropy and celebration.

Tickets are now on sale for the Last Chance for White Pants Gala, benefiting Lower Cape Fear LifeCare. The annual fundraiser will take place Aug. 29 at the Brooklyn Arts Center in downtown Wilmington.

The event serves as one of the organization’s largest fundraisers of the year, with proceeds supporting compassionate care and services for patients and families facing serious and life-limiting illnesses, regardless of their ability to pay.

Organizers say more than 400 guests attended the gala in 2025, making it one of the Cape Fear region’s premier social and charitable events.

Guests are encouraged to wear white or summer-inspired attire and enjoy an evening featuring live entertainment, food, drinks, auctions and interactive experiences.

This year’s event will include a performance by the Emerald Empire Band, cuisine from Middle of the Island Catering, a Bell Tower Bourbon cash bar, photo booths, a silent auction and a new premium tequila raffle.

“This gala is not only a highlight of the summer social calendar, but also a powerful way for our community to come together and make a lasting impact,” said Katie Tate, executive director of the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Foundation. “We are thrilled to welcome guests back for another incredible night.”

The Last Chance for White Pants Gala has become a longstanding Wilmington tradition, giving attendees one final opportunity to celebrate the summer season while supporting a local nonprofit organization dedicated to end-of-life care and family support.
