Franklinton High to miss early after report of active shooter deemed false alarm, sheriff says

FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) — Multiple law enforcement agencies are at Franklinton High School in Franklin County for an investigation. Franklin County Sheriff said the report of an active shooter has been investigated and is a ‘false alarm.’
Sheriff White posted this statement about the response:
Our team responded earlier this morning to reports of an active shooter at Franklinton High School. The School has been locked down, and ALL students are considered safe at this time. An initial sweep of the school has shown no signs of any threats of any kind. Praise be to God. I, as well as my team will remain on site for the duration of the day as we begin the transition of students back to their loved ones.
False alarms like this are not funny, but unfortunately must be taken seriously. We will investigate the origin of this false report, and the perpetrator will face significant consequences.
