Lejeune holds extended training, warns of noise

CAMP LEJEUNE, NC (AP) — Camp Lejeune training exercises mean residents may hear loud noises after the normal midnight curfew for one more night.

Typically, the Marine Corps base abides by a midnight curfew for training that involves fixed-wing aviation, artillery and mortars. But the spring and summer months don’t provide enough hours of darkness for joint terminal attack controllers to meet certification minimums.

So, the extended training is continuing until 2 a.m. Friday, as it did on the three previous days.

The training involves the Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Atlantic.
