Leland Christmas Parade goes on despite cold and gloomy weather

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The cold and gloomy weather Saturday didn’t stop people from spreading the holiday cheer in Leland for their 25th annual Christmas Parade and Festival.

Attendees lined Village Road to catch a glimpse of the Brunswick County tradition.

Bringing up the rear of the parade? Santa and Mrs. Claus, of course.

Your favorite WWAY anchors and reporters, like Daniel Seamans, Hannah Patrick, and Kirsten Gutierrez, were on hand giving out candy.

The event is a big part of the holiday season for Leland residents.

“Just bringing these grandchildren! If it weren’t for them, I might be at home. But their mom couldn’t come today. We try to come every year, they love it,” said Melinda Burckhalter, who attended the parade with her grandchildren.

After the parade, Leland Town Hall Park was the place to be for arts and crafts and food vendors as part of the Christmas Festival.
