Leland seeking public input on future parks, recreation plans
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Leland residents will have a chance later this month to weigh in on the future of parks and recreation in the town, including plans for a new 32-acre park.
The Town of Leland will hold two open houses Oct. 28 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Town Hall, located at 102 Town Hall Drive.
One open house will focus on the town’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan, known as the PROS Plan. Residents can learn about current recreational offerings and provide input on future parks, facilities and amenities.
The completed plan is expected to guide Leland’s parks and recreation priorities for the next 10 years.
A second open house will focus on the proposed master plan for Loblolly Park.
The future park, located off Long Pine Drive, covers just over 32 acres. Proposed amenities include a disc golf course. According to the town, the course could also be used for tournaments, community events and partnerships with local organizations and businesses.
Residents attending the open house will be able to review the proposed plan and provide feedback.
Town Council and the Parks and Recreation Board will hold two special meetings the following day, Oct. 29.
The boards will discuss the PROS Plan during a 6 p.m. meeting, followed by a 7:30 p.m. meeting focused on the Loblolly Park Master Plan.
Residents will also have an opportunity to provide public comment during the Loblolly Park meeting.
