Leland to host women’s health forum with screenings and expert panels

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Leland will host a Women’s Health Forum next month featuring health screenings, educational resources and discussions with healthcare professionals.
The event is scheduled for June 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Leland Cultural Arts Center at 1212 Magnolia Village Way.
Health screenings will be offered from 4 to 6 p.m. and include mammograms through a mobile mammography unit, along with blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings.
The forum will also feature two panel discussions with healthcare experts at 5 and 6 p.m. Each session will last about 50 minutes and will allow attendees to submit written questions.
Participating organizations include Brunswick Medical Center, Novant Health and Christian Recovery Center.
The first panel discussion, titled “Navigating Women’s Health Through Every Stage,” will focus on topics including maternity care, pre- and post-menopause and mental health concerns associated with those life stages.
The second discussion, “Thriving Through the Years,” will address aging and wellness, stroke prevention and recovery and cardiovascular health.
“Leland is one of the fastest-growing towns in North Carolina, and with that growth comes a responsibility to ensure residents know about local healthcare services and resources,” Councilman Leland Hyer said. “This forum is an opportunity to connect our community with healthcare professionals, provide valuable information, and encourage conversations about women’s health.”
Town officials noted Leland does not provide healthcare services and is not endorsing any organization or provider through the event.
