Lightning to blame for fire that destroyed home

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY)- Lightning is believed to be responsible for a house fire off of Hogan Court in New Hanover County.

The fire began just after 4:00 Tuesday afternoon, just as a line of strong storms moved through the area.

No one was home at the time of the fire. A few pets were inside the home but were able to be rescued.

The home is believed to be a total loss.
