‘Love is Love’ comic book donates 100% of proceeds to victims, survivors of Orlando Massacre

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — When 49 people were killed and 53 injured at Pulse nightclub in Orlando on June 12, 2016, a horrified nation was left wondering: How can I help?

Now, the comic-book community has responded with ‘Love is Love’, an anthology of work by some of the greatest names working in comics alongside some rising stars, with all profits being donated to victims, survivors and their families.

One of the contributors is Scott Lope, former host of the Discovery Channel’s ‘Wild Animal Repo’ and Animal Planet’s ‘Untamed and Uncut’.

His story documents what life became for pets left orphaned by the shooting.

“I wanted,” Lope says, “to show some of the unexpected victims of that horrific day.”

Love Is Love features comic book talents such as Jim Lee, Jason Aaron and Grant Morrison.  It also includes some names not normally associated with comics: comedian Patton Oswalt, film-maker Morgan Spurlock, and even Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who gave permission for her Hogwarts alumni to be used in a single-page illustration, pointing their wands at a rainbow future.

The comic can be bought at Memory Lane Comics in Wilmington or on Amazon or iTunes.
