Lt. Gov., Logistics Task Force look at ideas, not how to pay for them
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Our area has a lot of big transportation projects in the works. Finishing I-140 and the proposed Skyway project among them. But this new infrastructure comes with a big price tag.
Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton met with economic development and transportation experts today at Cape Fear Community College’s North Campus. They talked about the long-term economic growth of the state and how to remain competitive in the global economy.
Dalton said the Logistics Task Force’s job is to prioritize needs across the state.
“Our job as a Logistics Task Force is to look at the ports, the airports, the roads and rail and find those areas that are going to be most critical to move people and goods in the 21st century economy and make sure that we prioritize in North Carolina.”
When asked about funding projects like I-140 and the Skyway, Dalton said that’s not the main focus of the task force, leaving still more questions about where money for such projects will come from.
